Ásgeir Helgi Þrastarson

I've been a musician since the age of 13 and I have a passion for artistic things. Photography came in much later, a few years ago, in fact. I got into it rather quickly and learnt most on my own, with guidance from a few nice online tutorials.

As you may have noticed, I'm from Iceland. My town is called Ísafjörður and is rather small, with a population of about 2.500. I've lived here most of my life but I grew up in Sweden and studied sound engineering in London for about a year and half.

Initially I started with a cheaper Canon T3i camera, which served me well, until I moved up to the good old Canon 5D classic… who cares about gear anyways?

I’m a Sony A9 shooter for photos and Panasonic GH5 for video.

Landscapes used to be my jam but since I started shooting music festivals and anything music related, I’ve found my passion. Festivals are fun because I meet lots of musicians I know and interact with the public who attend.

I have recently found a passion working intimately with musicians / bands, where I’d be filming and photographing them during recording sessions or doing music videos. Touring documentaries is be something I would enjoy thoroughly.
